Each month we feature a new charity to share with our readers in hopes that they might donate to or at least spread the word to others for awareness. For August we decided to profile Encompass.
Based out of the greater Seattle, WA area, here is their company in their own words:
“Encompass is an independent, non-profit organization established in 1966 with a unique mission: to nurture children, enrich families and inspire community.
Our programs nurture typical and developmentally challenged children, enrich families in all their diversity and inspire community throughout the Snoqualmie Valley, Issaquah, Sammamish and the greater Eastside. We are creating a legacy of children and families who know they are valued. Our dream is that they inspire community wherever they go.

We provide the following evidence-based programs and services:
Early Learning programs at Encompass promote the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children. We provide preschool classes for three and four year-olds as well as toddler playgroups for children 18 to 36 months old. Encompass also offers preschool through the state’s Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program for families who cannot afford to pay. We are the only preschool in the Snoqualmie Valley and only one of four on Seattle’s Eastside that are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Pediatric Therapy and Birth-to-Three Early Intervention work in tandem. Birth-to-Three Early Intervention supports optimal growth and development of infants and toddlers with developmental delays through services in-home therapy and assessment, family support and individualized programs for each child. Pediatric Therapy provides services for children from birth until age 18 who have a documented developmental delay and do not fit the age or disclosure requirements associated with Birth-to-Three Early Intervention.
Family Support and Parenting Support and Education programs offer parents and caregivers opportunities to support each other and develop healthy, effective parenting styles. We help parents learn to manage stress and anger, improve communication skills, develop realistic expectations of their children and use positive discipline when dealing with challenging behaviors.
For those who need targeted individual support, we provide Parent-Child Interaction Training, an intensive parent coaching program that helps parents and their children who are experiencing behavior problems. For families who require more, Encompass offers Family-Support services. A Spanish/English bilingual family support specialist meets with families to provide crisis intervention, set goals and work with our parenting educators. We also offer Kinship Care support for grandparents and other relatives caring for children.
Community Activities bring children, families and community members together to participate in social activities that build a strengthened sense of community, including Family Nights, a childcare cooperative, summer camps and a Respectful Giving campaign during the holiday season.
Advancement activities, including the Autumn Gala, the “Dream with Me” Spring Gala and spring SipFest, enlist individuals and organizations to support Encompass with financial contributions, board service and other volunteer endeavors.
