Record Store Day 2011 happens on Saturday, April 16th across the nation! Randomville has supported RSD from the beginning and this year we wanted to help all of our readers find a way to support RSD no matter where they happen to be at. So with that, we have listed below at least one record store in ALL 50 STATES for you to check out on the 16th! We also realize that some of the cities we listed might require hours of commute for you to get to, so go here for hopefully a closer store near you.
Just as a brief summary, we have information below about live, in-store performances this Saturday by My Morning Jacket, The Deftones (autograph signing), My Chemical Romance, Mike Watt, The Head and The Heart, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Menomena just to name a few. Click here for the full bit of rare editions being sold on RSD!!
GO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RECORD STORE!!!
The lone participating store in Alaska!
We’re so excited to announce our Record Store Day lineup of MENOMENA / KINCH / PRIME 8S! Music starts at 1pm. Stay tuned for more bands. Plus we’ll be having food trucks on hand for some tasty delights and over 300 killer releases all coming out on this special day. We’ll be opening up early this day for all you collectors, at 10am. Go to recordstoreday.com for a list of the awesomeness that will be released on this date. We are having a lot of festivities in our parking lot that will be fun for all. We will also have on-site screen printing by a local company called Tumbletees where people can get the RSD logo on their canvas record bags, t-shirts, or whatever they want to bring. We will also have food for all – some cookout stuff and some food trucks on site. Come on down and spend the day! The store will be opening at 10 AM (an hour early) and we do expect a line, so get there early!
Little Rock, AR
We will have face-painting and outside games for the kiddies and they’ll win prizes like in a carnival (a tiny carnival for the little kiddies). We will have a drawing on the hour for 20 records-LPs (you will get your choice of pop, rock, jazz and R&B) and there will be an entry form at the checkout desk and they will have to be present to win. We have a jukebox that we will be playing all day and encouraging folks to pick out their favorite tunes and play them on it. We are trying to tell all our customers that we need to know what they want of the RSD releases so we can try to get them in for them.
Los Angeles, CA
Origami will open at 10am for RSD 2011, two hours earlier than normal. We will have live performances from Islands, The Growlers, and Hanni El Khatib. We will also be giving away a bunch of cool things throughout the day.
San Francisco, CA
Last week, we placed an additional LP rack on the floor to make room for more vinyl. For “old school” collectors, this section should be of interest to you. There are some “original press” LP selections of Jazz, Blues & Doo Wop/R&B. Stay tuned for Pop & Rock after we sort through our inventory. The “crates” are also being replenished as we sell off the stock. Remember, “The early bird catches the worm” or something like dat!!! 🙂
Albums will be open 10a-9p, our normal hours. This is always the busiest day of the year for independent record stores, and we will have limited numbers of the products. The earlier you get here, the better chance we’ll have what you are looking for. Product for RSD is allotted to various stores, but we will do our best to get as many of the titles as we can.
We will be hosting three live performances here as well has stocking many of the limited edition releases.

There are only two stores to choose from: Rainbow Music and Bert’s! Delaware isn’t that big…hell, go to both!!
This year we’re closing down the street again. We open at 10am for the RSD exclusives, DJ sets start inside the shop at noon, the outside stage is from 2-11pm and this year we’ve also got a full lineup of bands playing next door at Churchill’s, one of Miami’s most venerable punk venues. Miami’s Roofless Records is curating the patio stage there as well.
We’ve also got food trucks coming, giveaways of FriendsWithYou toys and tickets to concerts at the Fillmore Miami Beach, projections by our brilliant friends Morphologic, comedians from our monthly stand-up comedy night Casa De Ha-Ha to entertain the crowd, a local music video showcase courtesy of Miami’s renowned Borscht Film Festival, a custom RSD shirt by Shady Teez, and the first 500 guests each get a free Heineken. (whew!)
We will have tons of stuff on sale and we will open early!!

Hawaii’s oldest record store, locally owned and operated, open in the same location since 1980! We buy and sell new and used CDs and Records. Hungry Ear Records proudly announces a personal appearance by legendary musician & producer Todd Rundgren at 4 PM on Saturday, April 16: Record Store Day 2011! Todd will debut his new CD, Todd Rundgren’s Johnson, a tribute to blues master Robert Johnson, which is being released exclusively to indie record stores on Record Store Day. Following a Q&A, Todd will meet with fans & sign copies of the CD.
Stay tuned for announcements on exclusive releases and Record Exchange store events! Enter our second annual Record Store Day Mixtape Contest! Record Store Day is still a few days away, but The Record Exchange already has Record Store Day tees in stock! We’re pretty excited that the shirts are here, because that means we can start wearing them. And you, dear customer, can buy one in advance and wear it on the big day — seriously, it’s totally acceptable and not one of those look-at-the-douchebag-who-wore-his-Metallica-shirt-to-the-Metallica-concert things. It’s a badge of honor yo.
Record Store Day is coming soon! On Saturday, April 16th, we’ll be carrying well over 100 special releases on vinyl (and a handful of other formats, too). There will also be a sidewalk sale with tons of bargains, lots of free giveaways, and many regular items will be on sale. In addition, we will be holding the inaugural “Best & Worst Record Cover in Des Moines.” Each customer can bring in one good record cover and one bad record cover (or you can nominate the same record for both categories!), and we’ll let the staff and the general public pick their favorites. Winners get gift certificates and other assorted prizes! We’ll open at 11 am that day.
Check back to their website for updates soon. You can call them at (773) 472-3683 for directions or look up 2843 N. Clark St. Chicago, IL

Saturday April 16 is Record Store Day. Listen to Ambassador Ozzy and come down to the Mushroom to pick up your early releases and special edition vinyl from your favorite artists.
Here at Weirdo, I’m planning on having karaoke out on the sidewalk in front of the tiny shop, as there’s often a wait to get inside that day. There will also be lots of free beer, and fake tattoos. There will be some special & exclusive RSD releases here that day, but since I specialize in very extreme underground music, most of them are not on the official release list. As it tends to be the busiest single day of the entire year & the store is a one person operation, it’s also the one day a year when I don’t answer the phone. Shop will be open both early and late, and will be bursting at the seams with extra goodies hidden amid the shelves for diggers.
We have lined up local bands to perform …… headlining is Jacob Panic……..We will have the local news ( WJZTV) covering the event …. We have tons of prizes and giveaways …… We will be carrying all the RSD exclusives…. We will have refreshments through-out the day …. IT IS GOING TO BE A F’ING PARTY !
Sophomore Beat – 1 p.m. These Portland rockers are releasing an EP entitled Party Like A Lobster on Tuesday, April 12, in advance of Record Store Day, which will only be available at Bull Moose.

We will be celebrating our fourth RSD this April, and we expect attendance of around a thousand people. Everything in the store will be on sale, including new and used CDs and LPs, and we bring out our hidden caches of great used vinyl to pad the bins. We host live music all day, a combination of bands and DJs. Somewhat oddly, My Chemical Romance will be stopping by to sign albums and the like.
We have giveaways of things like concert tickets and gift certificates from other local retailers, and the person with the coolest vinyl purchases wins a spot hosting a show on our local public radio. Basically we try to make it as much of a community event as possible; it’s a way of reminding the city of our presence and our purpose.
This year our plans were so big we had to take them outside – 39th Avenue will be closed for the day and Hymie’s will host a Godzilla-sized Record Store Day street festival. There will be one stage outside and one stage inside and some of the best talent in the Twin Cities: The Annandale Cardinals, Buffalo Moon, Martin Devaney, Fat Kid Wednesdays, The Humbugs, Is/Is, Cadillac Kolstad, Erik Koskinen, Molly Maher and Ben Weaver. Hymie’s will have in stock many of the special, limited edition Record Store Day releases, including everything from the Beach Boys to Nirvana. We will also have tons (Truly, tons!) of crates for digging, full of 50¢ deals! As if all this wasn’t enough, there will be an exciting variety of local artists, including our pals from Vinyl Afterlife and a live painting performance by Rogue Citizen. This event is free and family friendly.

We hope to carry a nice list of titles for “Record Store Day.” We’re going to do a “Lincoln Journal/Star” DEAL OF THE DAY! There will be a coupon in the local newspaper, “Pay $5.00 get $10.00 in store coupons” which comes out on Friday to go along with the big day on Sat. April 16, 2011. Plus we hope the same paper will put a plug in for “Record Store Day” in the Ground Zero, a local music section (we’re yet to see on that one but hopefully). As you and we all know, we don’t really know what we’re getting until it’s shipped. Kind of like a grab bag of goodies, sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Anyway, count us in on the “Big Day.” Should be fun.
The Gay Blades – 1 p.m. The Gay Blades are an edgy, new-age, unpredictable heavy pop duo from New York with local and international followings. They will be celebrating Record Store Day with their Salem in-store performance.

Taosound is the small town record store that people say you can’t find anymore. Our base in BUY*SELL*TRADE has allowed us to offer budget music and film since 2003. We now offer Special Orders and some new, rare, out-of-prints and collectibles. Our recently expanded LP wing should reach our goal of ‘7000 records’ by 2010. By adding Stereos in 2006, DJ Nights this summer and New/Used Instruments ?SOON?, Taosound continues to expand to meet the Local and Regional needs of our beloved Taos, New Mexico and the Southern Rockies.
