Record Store Day 2011
Record Store Day 2011 happens on Saturday, April 16th across the nation! Randomville has supported RSD from the beginning and this year we wanted to help all of our readers find a way to support RSD no matter where they happen to be at. So with that, we have listed below at least one record store in ALL 50 STATES for you to check out on the 16th! We also realize that some of the cities we listed might require hours of commute for you to get to, so go here for hopefully a closer store near you.
Just as a brief summary, we have information below about live, in-store performances this Saturday by My Morning Jacket, The Deftones (autograph signing), My Chemical Romance, Mike Watt, The Head and The Heart, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Menomena just to name a few. Click here for the full bit of rare editions being sold on RSD!!

We’re so excited to announce our Record Store Day lineup of MENOMENA / KINCH / PRIME 8S! Music starts at 1pm. Stay tuned for more bands. Plus we’ll be having food trucks on hand for some tasty delights and over 300 killer releases all coming out on this special day. We’ll be opening up early this day for all you collectors, at 10am. Go to recordstoreday.com for a list of the awesomeness that will be released on this date. We are having a lot of festivities in our parking lot that will be fun for all. We will also have on-site screen printing by a local company called Tumbletees where people can get the RSD logo on their canvas record bags, t-shirts, or whatever they want to bring. We will also have food for all – some cookout stuff and some food trucks on site. Come on down and spend the day! The store will be opening at 10 AM (an hour early) and we do expect a line, so get there early!

We will have face-painting and outside games for the kiddies and they’ll win prizes like in a carnival (a tiny carnival for the little kiddies). We will have a drawing on the hour for 20 records-LPs (you will get your choice of pop, rock, jazz and R&B) and there will be an entry form at the checkout desk and they will have to be present to win. We have a jukebox that we will be playing all day and encouraging folks to pick out their favorite tunes and play them on it. We are trying to tell all our customers that we need to know what they want of the RSD releases so we can try to get them in for them.
Los Angeles, CA
Origami will open at 10am for RSD 2011, two hours earlier than normal. We will have live performances from Islands, The Growlers, and Hanni El Khatib. We will also be giving away a bunch of cool things throughout the day.

There are some “original press” LP selections of Jazz, Blues & Doo Wop/R&B. Stay tuned for Pop & Rock after we sort through our inventory. The “crates” are also being replenished as we sell off the stock. Remember, “The early bird catches the worm” or something like dat!!! 🙂

Cambridge, MA
Here at Weirdo, I’m planning on having karaoke out on the sidewalk in front of the tiny shop, as there’s often a wait to get inside that day. There will also be lots of free beer, and fake tattoos. There will be some special & exclusive RSD releases here that day, but since I specialize in very extreme underground music, most of them are not on the official release list. As it tends to be the busiest single day of the entire year & the store is a one person operation, it’s also the one day a year when I don’t answer the phone. Shop will be open both early and late, and will be bursting at the seams with extra goodies hidden amid the shelves for diggers.
Baltimore, MD
We have lined up local bands to perform …… headlining is Jacob Panic……..We will have the local news ( WJZTV) covering the event …. We have tons of prizes and giveaways …… We will be carrying all the RSD exclusives…. We will have refreshments through-out the day …. IT IS GOING TO BE A F’ING PARTY !

We will be celebrating our fourth RSD this April, and we expect attendance of around a thousand people. Everything in the store will be on sale, including new and used CDs and LPs, and we bring out our hidden caches of great used vinyl to pad the bins. We host live music all day, a combination of bands and DJs. Somewhat oddly, My Chemical Romance will be stopping by to sign albums and the like.
We have giveaways of things like concert tickets and gift certificates from other local retailers, and the person with the coolest vinyl purchases wins a spot hosting a show on our local public radio. Basically we try to make it as much of a community event as possible; it’s a way of reminding the city of our presence and our purpose.
Minneapolis, MN
This year our plans were so big we had to take them outside – 39th Avenue will be closed for the day and Hymie’s will host a Godzilla-sized Record Store Day street festival. Hymie’s will have in stock many of the special, limited edition Record Store Day releases, including everything from the Beach Boys to Nirvana. We will also have tons (Truly, tons!) of crates for digging, full of 50¢ deals! As if all this wasn’t enough, there will be an exciting variety of local artists, including our pals from Vinyl Afterlife and a live painting performance by Rogue Citizen.
