Takeaway Shows: Sigur Ros
I’ve always been a fan of La Blogotheque’s Takeaway Shows. Essentially, they invite an artist every week to give a somewhat impromptu performance at a bar, on the street, in an elevator, etc, and film the whole shebang. It’s a great idea, and they’ve had the likes of Efterklang, Bon Iver, Animal Collective, even Stephen Malkmus, perform for the series. The most recent addition to the archives is the Icelandic wonder that is Sigur Ros.
In a small French restaurant, the band performed an acoustic rendition of Með suð à eyrum, the title track of their most recent album. It’s got a great sound to it, and it’s nice to see that the band can still sound full and effective without anything more than the bare-bones of their instrumentation.
